Snow White: Crack
So, ages and ages ago, I made a Zazzle store for fun. One of the shirts in that store bore this slogan:

Harmony: The ship of LULZ )

Today, I received an email from Zazzle stating that my design had been taken down due to the request of the intellectual property rights holder because it contained “copyrighted text or images”.

Granted, it does poke fun at a reasonably popular Harry Potter ship, but a quick search of Zazzle turns up over 2,000 products which contain much more overt references to HP and terms that actually come from the books. I might just be blind, but I really do not understand whose copyright the text in my design actually violates. Bzuh?

An Urgent Appeal: Tropical Storm Ondoy

Spuffy: Hold me
Tropical Storm Ondoy (Ketsana) hit the Philippines with a month’s worth of rain on Saturday, causing massive flash floods all over Metro Manila. Friends and colleagues of mine have had their homes flooded and their belongings ruined, over a hundred people are reported dead or missing, and more than 300,000 people have been displaced.

Rescue and relief services are limited, and a lot of people could use your help.

If you are willing and able, please donate to the Philippine National Red Cross. A local consumer group, TXTPower, is also accepting donations for the PNRC via Paypal.

My mother and I are also contributing to relief efforts for an elementary school in the province of Laguna which is supported by one of my late father’s non-profit organisations. This school is located near a river and a mountain, and the floods swept timber through the building and destroyed a lot of their facilities. If you’d like to help with this specifically, please PM me.

A little goes a long way: even $15 will buy a substantial amount of rice and feed a lot of hungry people.

Thanks for reading, and please spread the word if you are willing.

I am sick. So sick, in fact, that I dragged myself out of bed at midnight to make (delicious, tasty, tomato and onion) soup. From scratch. Tell me I’m not crazy, you guys. <_<

I am not invisible

Gablos: Shh ♥
So, I’m over on Dreamwidth as pennyroyal. I’ve added everyone on my flist who has transferred, I think; if I’ve missed you, let me know. Also, because I’m lazy, here’s the relevant bit from my DW info post about how I plan to split up posting:

[info]orexisbella / pennyroyal: I don’t post much, although I am trying to post more. I’ve decided to keep fannish ramblings on Livejournal and use Dreamwidth for meta, srs bzns and other things. I don’t plan to cross-post, but I will cross-link. Most of my posts are public; RL posts are locked. If you want access and we have spoken before, just ask and I will probably give it to you.

Not related: For months, I have looked forward to reading books by Lois McMaster Bujold and Patricia Wrede when I have more free time. Now? I’m just kind of glad I haven’t spent any of my money on their work.

Finally, from [info]deadbrowalking, via [info]furiosity:

If you identify as a POC/nonwhite person and you read or watch scifi or fantasy, give yourself a name check in this thread. I am particularly wanting shoutouts from people who do not live in the US and who have still managed to read genre fiction.

I’m tired of people trying to render us invisible unless they have been given a memo about our existences.

You got it wrong, America. You hear me? WRONG WRONG WRONG. NOOOOOOOOOOOP. *WAILS* BRB CRYING FOREVER. ;_;

So, about this Dreamwidth thing. I NEED YOUR HALP. )

PS Does anyone else keep typing out dw (DW? It doesn’t look right to me in either upper or lower case, damn it) and mentally reading it as Dreamweaver?

Please don’t stop the music

Meme snagged from [info]draykonis.

1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Quotations Page and select “random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

Sadly, mine is too srs bizness to be hilarious, but I still think it’s pretty! )

I don’t write fic, I suck at it. But I was listening to Bethany Joy, and this wouldn’t leave me alone until it was written. This is just one of those pairings that I can’t stop loving.
